Emma's reflection on her final upcoming months of ESC in Lavis Blog dei volontari

It's weird for me to talk about the ending of my project because I don't really feel like it's ending (maybe because it's not?) I still have some months left here and then I am planning on staying for longer.

The inner peace I feel here is just beautiful. I've gotten to the point where I love my routine (whattttt?). Spring has been rainy, sunny, full of visits from home and not a lot of time home home (here, in Lavis). So, now that summer has started and we have a lot of work, I am super happy to get back to creating my own little life here.

I am learning to not be scared of the lake, to be patient because I've hurt my foot and I can't do much sport, to understand which kind of work I like the most, to work hand to hand with my friend and develop such amazing projects together.

I am still discovering new ways in which I can carry out my volunteering, I am learning to take care of a garden (and of myself). I am also understanding the fact that the other volunteers aren't actually staying, and that even if I stay in the same place, things won't be the same. And it's ok, and at the same time sometimes I panic. But it's fine that I'm panicking sometimes, it means that I am feeling.

I don't wan't to romanticise anything but this experience has healed me in some way. And it won't be like this for everyone, but it was just the right place and right time for me. Does that even exist? I don't know, but I feel it this way. I could do a list of my favourite memories but I feel like they're in each and every single word I've written so far.

I am learning to love a little bit more everyday this part of the world, its people, its culture, its weather and its dialects.
