”La dolce vita” is ending soon - Dea's final reflection on her ESC experience Blog dei volontari

It’s already been almost a year since I started living in Italy and it feels like several days and a century at the same time. Time flies, and stuff change with or without us realizing it.

I was trying to reflect on everything that had changed in my life since my “la dolce vita” has begun, but the change was so big that I gave up at some point - I gave up and realized that sometimes we can also let it be. Let it be - maybe you’ll have an earworm after this phrase (Ohrwurm in German, as my dear friends taught me), but it’s maybe the best thing I’ve learned here.I learned how to let things be memorable, emotional, boring, stressful, amazing; To let myself be excited, anxious, unreasonably happy, useless, talented or failed; I let people around me to be themselves and I also let myself be myself around them. I let myself believe that when people tell me that I’m good, I need to listen to them. And, surprisingly, I started noticing more and more (and more!) beauty in myself and in others.I sang in front of many unknown people for the first time, I tried many cool stuff for the first time and the most important thing - I smiled, laughed, hugged and felt happy with many amazing people with my whole heart.”La dolce vita” is ending soon, but my heart will be full with this memories, inspiration, warmth and gratefulness forever.- Dea Darchia
