Gaia and Camilla's experience with ESC at H2O, Portugal Blog dei volontari
Gaia and Camilla, participated in a 3-months volunteering project, titled " Solidarity, yes we can…”, ijn Portugal. The project was financed by the the European Solidarity Corps (ESC).
From April to July 2024, Gaia and Camilla had the opportunity to live in Portugal, where they were hosted by “H2O” - Associação de Jovens de Arrouquelas (https://h2o.pt/).
The mission of “H2O” is to create forms of participation and communication of young people through the promotion of pedagogical projects at the local, regional and international level, based on non-formal education, creativity, innovation and irreverence characteristic of youth, promoting citizenship habits that accompany the development of young people.
The aim of the project was to give volunteers the opportunity to get to know a new country, culture and work. During their stay, volunteers helped children trying to narrow the intergenerational divide. Volunteers collaborated on socio-cultural and sporting activities alongside the young volunteers of H2O association. Furthermore, since H2O offers activities for children and youth after school, known as ATL (After School Time), ESC volunteers had the chance to participate in the planning and organization of the association's activities.
