Cris' experience in Bolzano with Caritas Blog
You can avoid a friend asking you to do a testimonial but you can`t avoid two, so here I am.
Just to introduce myself, I am Cris, from Spain, and I am volunteering at YoungCaritas in Bolzano. It is almost nine months that I am here, and I am in my last weeks.
Honestly, I have no words to describe how meaningful has been this experience for me. I would say, without a doubt, that it has been one of the most beautiful moments of my life so far.
Let's go back to the beginning. It takes time. Time to find people to connect with. To find your place. It was a time to connect with myself a lot, meet different people and let things happen. Finding a couple of friends you can trust makes everything so much easier, thanks besties, Marta and Maya. And then, someone came to join the team and bring adventure. Javi, now I can’t stop traveling. Trento means a lot, the volunteers with whom we could spend quality time, and a Xmas spent there.
About work, I just loved it. I am super happy and thankful. I felt very loved and trusted. Little by little, they were giving me a bit more responsibility in some projects. I have a full and various experience in different topics. It gave me a lot of perspective after studying Social Work. I have a very strong relationship with my coordinator that help me to express my needs and try to adapt the project to myself. In a few words, I have helped with projects and actions to raise awareness of different social issues. I also worked in another structure from Caritas with women in crisis.
About the last months, they were full of emotions (every kind of emotion), trips, learnings, and new friends from Spain that joined our adventure. In the beginning, I thought that at some point it would stop being that intense, but I have to say that it didn’t stop, it was even more. I don’t know how I did it that I could visit all the places: Verona, Padova, Milano, Venezia, Bologna, Roma, Sicilia, Budapest apart from super nice places in the region, and Berlin with my work team.
Now, it is time for me to start saying goodbye with all my heart, because here I could discover myself a lot and I felt very loved, thank youuuuuuu all :)
