Growing and learning together Blog
Ciao, my name is Nora. I’m 19 years old and I’m from Germany. I can’t believe that it’s been seven months since I have started my ESC journey! The past months have taught me so much in all the ways I could imagine. I’m volunteering at the Caritas in Bolzano, a place coordinating many different services to help people with various problems.

Over time, I was integrated better and better in the work processes. Now I create posts for social media in the office of the young Caritas and help with different projects for young people. I also work at a place for people with HIV and I support a child with school work. In summer I will help to hold summer camps for kids at the sea - a task I can’t wait to start with. These various tasks have taught me to work more independently and proactively propose my own ideas. Challenging moments have helped me to become more confident and stand up for myself. The whole volunteering experience is helping me in deciding what career path I want to choose after my project. Outside of my volunteering tasks there is a lot of growth happening, too, maybe even more. Making a new city feel like home, forming beautiful bonds with new people and overcoming homesickness were all part of moving abroad. I feel like I now know myself and what is important to me better and will have an easy time settling into new places in the future. One other beautiful part of my life in Bolzano is that I get to explore the region and other parts of Italy with my friends collecting memories I will always be grateful for. All in all, I am very content with the past seven months and hope the next four will be amazing, too!
Un abbraccio
Nora
